The Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) of Pondicherry University was established in 1995-96 to serve learners who are unable to pursue formal on-campus education. It offers Conventional Mode (direct enrolment) and Twinning Mode (through authorised partner institutions) for distance programmes. The DDE is recognised by the University Grants Commission – Distance Education Bureau (UGC-DEB) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for the distance mode programmes.
